You might think he just got lucky. Torres however, has always believed in his destiny to become a great martial artist. As fate would have it, he did meet the right people who helped and guided him on his path to the MAA top. Nevertheless, it was his innate drive and desire to train and compete that quickly propelled him to stardom.

Starting his professional MMA career in 2001, he never looked back. After having competed in amateur circles of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and winning several Gold medals along the way, he finally made his entry into the exciting world of MMA. He began forging his way to the top while fighting for different promotion companies, such as Shoot Fighting Open, Iron Heart Crown, Total Fight Challenge, Mixed Martial Arts Invitational, Total Combat, Super Brawl, WEC, Cage Rage, and many others.
Remembering his first fight broadcast on TV, he shares: "It felt good to know that now the world will be able to know what I can do and what skills and passions I posses as a fighter. I love what I do and know everyone will see what can be achieved by a dedicated and motivated person."
He is currently ranked as number one in the world in the bantam weight category. Different ranking systems chart him as third or fourth. Since the discrepancies are based on varying criteria it is almost impossible to achieve equal ranking in all systems. Regardless, his focus is on becoming the bantam weight World Champion.
Right now he is preparing for his upcoming WEC championship fight against Chase Beebe on February 13 in Alburque, New Mexico. Without a doubt, his dream is now well within his reach.
