By Astrid Bidanec TAMPA, Fla.- The sister of the RFC Lightweight champion, Edson Berto, not only gave MMA fans their money's worth of a show on July 11 at the sold out A La Carte Pavillion. Nana Berto also upheld the The Real Fighting Championship's event motto 'Title Bound' to a 'T' when she anihilated Jessica Bednark in round one with one of the fiercest attacks anyone has ever seen from a female fighter. No doubt she is on her way to follow in her brother's foot steps and go for a title of her own.

With Berto's fists and knees raining down on her, the usually agressive Bednark had almost no chance for a counter attack. Once the fight reached the ground, the NAGA Champion'08 , Berto, finished Bednark off with a submission technique. In spite of Bednarks experience as amateur kickboxer and MMA pro fighter with a record of 3-0 the newly debuting Berto easily over-powered her. Equally impressive and devastating was Eddie "The Hulk" Hernandez's attack on James Foster, which resulted in the fight's stoppage in round three due to Foster's excessive facial bleeding. The Hulk earned his victory via T.K.O. and Foster was bandaged up like he just got off a mine field. Starting with a fairly slow stand-up game, the freestyle fighter and RFC veteran, Zach Knight finally put his experinece and jiu-jitsu skills to work when he submitted the newly debuting Marcello Mastroianni in round two with a choke. Den Ly held his own against Farkhard Sharipov throughout three grueling rounds, but lost by decision in the end. With a crowd of loyal fans cheering him on Ryan "Who Dat" Keenan proved that Gracie jiu jitsu still has some of the best techniques in MMA when he submitted Robert Orta with a choke in round 2. Brett Chism might have been an inspiration to Nana Berto with his merciless pounding on Daniel Castro. The referee stopped the fight in round one and awarded Chism the win by T.K.O. Beto Nunes and Joe Robinson both dished out punches in the first two rounds, hurting each other by apparently equal amounts. In round three they seemed to run out of gas and barely made it to the end of round three. The judges awarded Robinson the win by decision. Gilbert Burgos added another win to his fight record by defeating James Wynn after three rounds by decision. Benjamin Jordan suffered a loss against Joshua Bacallao after three rounds due to the judges' split decision. The next RFC event is scheduled for September 19, 2008 at the A La Carte Pavillion in Tampa. For more info visit http://rfcmma.com.
